Java vs Bedrock in Quickland: Everything You Need to Know

One of the most frequent questions we receive is: “Can I play on Quickland from my phone/console?” The answer is yes, and in this guide, we explain how the compatibility between editions works and what differences you will find.

What Editions Exist?

Minecraft Java Edition

The original version of Minecraft, available exclusively for PC (Windows, macOS, Linux). It is the edition with the greatest support for mods, plugins, and client customization.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Available on multiple platforms: Windows 10/11, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. It is the most accessible edition and optimized for mobile devices and consoles.

Cross-Play in Quickland

Quickland supports both editions thanks to bridging technology that allows Bedrock players to connect to Java servers. This means you can play with your friends regardless of what platform they connect from.

How to Connect from Java

  1. Open Minecraft Java Edition.
  2. Go to “Multiplayer” > “Add Server”.
  3. Type quickland.net as the server address.
  4. Click “Join Server”.

How to Connect from Bedrock

  1. Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
  2. Go to “Play” > “Servers” > “Add Server”.
  3. Type quickland.net as the address and 19132 as the port.
  4. Save and connect.

Experience Differences

Although both editions can play on the same server, there are important differences you should know:

Combat Mechanics

  • Java: Uses the combat cooldown system (1.9+). Attacks have a timer that requires timing.
  • Bedrock: Combat is faster and more direct, similar to old Java versions (pre-1.9).

In Quickland, both combat styles coexist. Java and Bedrock players can fight each other, although the differences in mechanics can give slight situational advantages/disadvantages.

User Interface

  • Java: Interface designed for mouse and keyboard. Greater precision in the inventory.
  • Bedrock: Interface adapted to touch screens and console controllers. Menus are larger and more accessible.

Redstone

This is one of the most significant differences:

  • Java: Redstone follows specific and predictable (though sometimes confusing) rules.
  • Bedrock: Redstone behaves differently in some cases. Java designs do not always work on Bedrock and vice versa.

In Quickland, this is generally not an issue because the server’s redstone systems are designed to be compatible, but if you create your own circuits, keep these differences in mind.

World Generation

  • Both editions share the same terrain generation from 1.18 onwards, so you will see the same biomes and structures.
  • Some exclusive structures may vary slightly between editions.

Skins and Capes

  • Java: You can use custom skins from any source. Capes are exclusive to special Mojang events.
  • Bedrock: Has a marketplace with paid skins, but also allows custom skins. More character customization options (emojis, animations).

On the server, both editions can view the skins of other players correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Java players see Bedrock players and vice versa? Yes, both share the same world and can see, interact, trade, and fight each other.

Is there additional lag due to cross-play? The bridging can add a tiny overhead, but in most cases, it is imperceptible. Latency depends more on your internet connection than the edition you use.

Can I change editions and keep my progress? Your progress on the server is linked to your account. If you change editions, you must link your accounts to keep your inventory, claims, and progress.

Which is better for Quickland? Both are excellent options. If you have a PC, Java offers the most complete experience with optimization mods. If you play from a phone or console, Bedrock is your choice. The important thing is that on Quickland, both are first-class citizens.

Connect from whichever you prefer! The IP is quickland.net for both editions. We look forward to seeing you!
